The four-member band Base Ball Bear has finally made it to the Nippon Budokan. On January 3, 2010, they will perform their first concert at that venue.
Base Ball Bear first formed in 2002 and made their major label debut in 2006 with the album "Band B Ni Tsuite." Their seventh single, released last year, gave them their first weekly top ten hit. Most recently, their "Kamigami LOOKS YOU" was used as the theme song of the movie "Kamogawa Horumo." Link to article |

Budokan has its own history with a lot of famous foreign artists performing there. But basically, its significance is in its size - the venue holds about 14,000 people, so when a band holds their first concert there, it means they've reached a pretty high level of popularity.
Of course, playing at the Dome or Kokuritsu is even higher, but not too many bands reach that level... |
