congratulations to the winners!! esp. Namie Amuro..
i love her "New Look" video..

im just curious about something, in this sort of awards, are there even nominees from JE??
but i think the reason they're not included is because they're idols?? and not merely musicians??

i'm not sure myself. but if i'm not mistaken, johnnys are not allowed to be nominated at any award which is not confirmed they will win. please correct me if i'm wrong. i think that's why you can never see them accepting awards in any music award ceremony. they normally will only accept the awards which they already know beforehand like RIAJ related awards.

J&A-acts are under a sc. "self-inflicted ban", which means that they have withdrawn from all kinds of music award shows (to mention a few: VMAJ, Record Taishou, Y-Taishou...)

From THE award show, Record Taishou, J&A-acts withdrew in the beginning of the 90s. Before that, it was usual to see them taking home multiple awards almost every year (近藤真彦, 光GENJI, 男闘呼組...)
The only exception after that is when SMAP was given a Gold Award (and therefore the Taishou-nomination) in the 37th Taishou of 1995 (with 「KANSHAして」). That year trf took the trophy home.
Then, in 2003, when SMAP's megahit 「世界に一つだけの花」 was offered a GA, their agency refused to accept it and the nomination.

thanks aleyna!

your explanation makes total sense. JE artist are to awesome, they are so humble, if they were to accept all those awards all the time it will make all other artist very jealous. Makes me <3 my JE artist even more
