Post Warner Bros. picks up "Death Note" rights

It was first discovered last year that movie studio Vertigo Entertainment was working on a movie remake of the popular "Death Note" manga series, which was turned into three live-action films in Japan. Now, it has been revealed that Warner Bros. has acquired the film adaptation rights.

Screenwriters Vlas and Charles Parlapanides were initially attached to the project with Vertigo, and they are still in charge of the script. Vertigo remains involved on the production side.

It is still not known when the film is expected to be released, and no director or cast members have been announced yet.

Hell to the yeah. Or any other known actor/actress for that matter. I'd prefer if it was 100% unknowns as the main characters.

Like Harry Potter when it first came out. Nobody knew who they were, y'know?

-praying- I'll die if Hannah Cyrus is in it. :|

Cute. And typical Hollywood.

I stick with the originals. No remake has ever topped the original. And Hollywood remakes... ouch.

not gonna lie, I want Zac Efron to be in it >

And seriously, the Japanese live-action sucks. Even Matsuyama Kenichi cannot save it D:

I thought the Jpn. version was alright. Matsuyama Kenichi was great as L. But that's the thing, it wasn't exactly "splendid" with the Japanese version, so what makes them think they can pull off an American version of it? Besides "Speed Racer," everything that's been converted from Japanese cinematography to American... "cinematography" has been an absolute mess.

I already know it's going to be a bunch of bullshizzz wrapped into one with the storyline as the only good aspect.

And Zac Efron better not be in the movie or anywhere near the movie! Don't f!ck it up than it already is! This isn't a teeny booper film. Please, stick w/ what you know...

I want to see a new, better Light Yagami!
Cast Daniel Radcliffe if you would!

Light plalyed by Tatsuya Fujiwara in the Japanese version lacked both sharpness and versatility. I was disappointed.
I watched the original version because L played by Kenichi Matsuyama was amazing!

why do i feel like the Hollywood making of this isn't going to be any good. I doubt it's going to be a big hit. It will probably come out on DVD faster then and that's when people will actually see it just because it will be cheaper that way. =T Is Hollywood completely out of ideas for movies that they have to make remakes of ones already out?! Disappointed in Warner Bros.
