Yuzu + Kimaguren = Yuzuguren

The duos of Yuzu and Kimaguren have decided to team up. The new 4-member unit is called Yuzuguren, and their single "Two Yu" ("yu" is written using the kanji for "friend") will be the theme song for Hideaki Hosono's movie "Donju," which stars Tadanobu Asano.

Yuzu members Yujin Kitagawa (32) and Koji Iwasawa (32) attended Kimaguren's concert last summer. All four musicians are actually from the Kanagawa prefecture, and since they had some friends in common, they were able to hit it off right away with each other. At the time, they wondered if they could do something together, and with their upcoming single, that thought has became a reality.

Taking into account the movie's themes of "friends, friendship, and faith" the collaborative efforts of the four members created a song filled with the exhilaration one feels in summer. "Two Yu" is said to combine Yuzu's heartfelt melody with Kimaguren's pleasant sounds.

The CD single will be released on May 13. "Donju" opens in theaters the same month.
