The Annecy International Animated Film Festival, often referred to as the "Cannes of animation," came to a close on Saturday. This year, Kunio Kato's "Tsumiki no Ie" was awarded The Annecy Cristal, the festival's highest honor. The piece also won the Junior Jury Award in the short film category.
The 12-minute film depicts an aging man, living in a house made of blocks, as he reflects upon the memories of his family. Kato is only the second Japanese filmmaker to win The Annecy Cristal. Koji Yamamura received it in 2003 for his "Atamayama." The other award winners are listed on the festival's website. Link to article |
