Oricon’s live event for new artists, “oricon Sound Blowin”.
Last year were popular artists who haven’t broken out into the music world yet, such as Moriyama Naotaro, UVERworld, mihimaru GT, etc. In this year’s event, we’ve selected six artists who are anticipating to break into the music world, including a special guest, Aoyama Thelma. We’re introducing them to you, allowing user comments and music video previews! Please check out the artists here and come to the event, okay!?

Special Guest – Aoyama Thelma (青山テルマ)

Born on October 28, 1987 in Nara prefecture. She discovered her passion for music when she was ten years old and began learning to sing gospel. She’s done collaboration works with DOHZI-T, DS455, SPHERE OF INFLUENCE, which has drawn attention to her. Then finally she made her debut with the release of her single, “ONE WAY” on September 5, 2007. She made another single featuring SoulJa called “Soba ni iru ne”, which became #1 in sales on January 23, 2008. And in the same year, she’s released her first album on March 26, 2008 called “DIARY”.

The hit “Soba ni iru ne” has made Aoyama Thelma more than a social phenomenon. She’s become very popular. For her 1st album “DIARY” release party, a lot of people from her so-called secret life gathered, including fans that cried upon hearing her live. In her album, a song about long distance relationships, “Soba ni iru ne” opens, then it moves into treasuring a past love, then a song for her parents, and so on. All these small joys are composed like a diary. Ever since she started to learn gospel, her voice has grown stronger and regardless of the type of music, one will always hear the beauty and brightness of her voice. In less than a year since her debut, she’s already become an important presence. The raw Thelma of now cannot be missed, especially if you’re a fan!

Next Artist: Fukuhara Miho (福原美穂)

Originally from Hokkaido, raised by parents who loved music. When she was 16, she was on a local karaoke competition on TV and shocked the listeners, including people in the music industry, who immediately made offers. After the release of “Tribute to Celine Dion” album which she was a part of, talk about selecting her for a newcomer album began. And now her release of “CHANGE” in April 2008 will mark her major debut.

With her body and soul, she was able to sing a soulful performance at the home of gospel. Fukuhara Miho, who debuts with the release of her single, “CHANGE” in April blew away listeners in the “Tribute to Celine Dion” album that lead to a flood of orders. She made songs under local indie labels in Hokkaido and became a major hit at the tender age of 20. Miho herself wrote the lyrics and the music for “CHANGE” where her bright, soulful voice rides atop a funk rhythm. In the song, we’re able hear her energetic and powerful voice combined with English lyrics almost as if we’re listening to a western song. The sound of her voice resonates into the depths of our hearts!
