Oricon released their end-of-the-year sales charts, and unsurprisingly, Kumi Koda topped the list for total sales. Counting sales from singles, albums, and DVDs, Koda brought in more than 12.7 billion yen. She started the year off by releasing a new single every week for 12 weeks, and proceeded to release five more singles, two albums, and one DVD during the rest of 2006.
The rest of the top ten selling artists were, in order: Kobukuro, Ken Hirai, SMAP, Ayumi Hamasaki, KAT-TUN, B'z, Ai Otsuka, Remioromen, and Mika Nakashima. Ken Hirai had the best-selling album of the year ("Ken Hirai 10th Anniversary Complete Single Collection '95-'05 Utabaka"), while KAT-TUN's "Real Face" was the best-selling single. Link to article |
