'Speed Racer' movie set to go

The live-action film version of the 1960s anime series "Speed Racer" has been given the green light. The film will be directed by the Wachowksi Brothers and produced by Joel Silver - this is the same team behind "The Matrix," and several of the staff from that series has also been recruited for the Speed Racer project. The Wachowskis plan to shoot the film next summer with a targeted release date in the summer of 2008.
