Hideaki Ito and Masaaki Uchino are co-starring in a disaster film titled "252: Seizonsha Ari," directed by Nobuo Mizuta ("Maiko Haaaan!!!").
A series of earthquakes causes the biggest typhoon in history to hit Japan, submerging areas of Tokyo. From one underground mall in Shinbashi, a rescue squad receives a distress code of "252," signaling that there are survivors in need of help. The code is sent by a former rescue squad officer (Ito) who is trapped in the mall along with his daughter. The signal is picked up by his older brother (Uchino), who currently commands the rescue team. Filming already took place between October and December. To make the rescue scenes more realistic, producers worked together with the Tokyo Fire Department. Both actors also spent more than a week at the fire department's training facility. Ito has some additional experience for the part, as he played a rescue diver in the hit "Umizaru" series. "252" is scheduled to open in theaters on December 6. Link to article |

I can't wait! Hopefully there will be some production press pictures released or something. I feel like it's been so long since Hideaki participated in his last projects, First Kiss and Sukiyaki Western. This type of role really seems to suit him, the only weird thing is that at the Venice Film Festival he was quoted as saying something along the lines of, "From now on I want to do only really interesting films like this, No more of the Umizaru Stuff." but this seems like almost the same thing as Umizaru...maybe it just won't be as cheesy as that was...

It really does sound similar to Umizaru, doesn't it? They might try to play up the family aspect more, but I guess we'll see when the trailers start coming out.

That would be a "teaser trailer" which are generally short and usually don't show footage.
Anyway, I'm more excited about Nobuo Mizuta directing this. I've heard so many good things about "Maiko Haaaan!!!" (which I'm still dying to watch), so it'll be interesting to see how he does with this film. |

The movie was just announced and is most likely in post-production, how are you expecting a 3min trailer so early on?
