Post Fallout from Kumi Koda comment continues

Public anger over Kumi Koda's careless comment last week continues to run strong, while networks and advertisers scramble to distance themselves from the singer. It was already announced that cosmetics company KOSE removed her from its website, but several more firms have followed suit.

Kirin has halted its commercials for the chuhai brand Hyoketsu. The drink's website has been closed, as has Honda's ZEST Sports page. Gilette Japan (who was about to start a new campaign with Koda) and Morinaga Seika have also taken similar action.

On Sunday, NTV and Fuji TV aired episodes of "Koi no Karasawagi" and "Shin Domoto Kyodai" that included Koda. Fuji TV said that it received more than 100 complaints from viewers. Meanwhile, TV Asahi has decided to postpone its broadcast of a "Tetsuko no Heya" episode that was scheduled to air this Thursday.

Avex says that Koda is suspending activity at least until the end of this month, though it may last longer, depending on public opinion. It is also not clear yet whether her commercial campaigns will be revived in the future.

Despite the negative press, Koda's newly-released album "Kingdom" managed to take #1 on the charts for its initial week.

Hopefully she gets put on a year-long hiatus. :_

Looks like the backlash is yet to continue much, much longer. Her suspension looks like it's going to last.... hopefully forever.

And I was also expecting sales of "Kingdom" to decrease dramatically (which should have happened) after she made her offensive comment, which would've gave either CHEMISTRY or Kobukuro the top spot on the weekly charts instead.

IMO... Her comment's caused so much ruckus. If it's causing every company that was planning to campaign with her to shut down, then Avex Trax should just fire her. End of the problem.

Her comment was too overrated. And hypocritical if you think about it. Telling women over 35 they're "dirty" because their fluid goes "rotten" when she's the one who uses sexual means of furthering her music career. Ridiculous! Why hasn't she been fired already?

Koda Kumi's such a loud mouth. Why go speaking of things like that comment in public? Probably her head's being filled by too much fame. I hope it explodes sooner or later. That comment was upsetting.

Funny how her sales didn't decline for "Kingdom". I agree. She should be put on a permanent hiatus or be fired from her company.

^ Now that's a good thought! Life's a very beautiful thing. Telling women that they're dirty if they have kids over 35 is terribly disgusting. Hope she burns in Hell for that too.

With her on hiatus i'd really like to see Otsukasan rise up to take Avexs second spot next to Ayusan. Otsukasan has much beauty and wonderful talent.
