35-year-old gymnast-turned-talento Hikaru Tanaka is set to marry 24-year-old Yoshimi Miyata, a competitive aerobics athlete.
Tanaka has won medals in international competition, and in 1996, he competed at the Summer Olympics in Atlanta. He retired in 1997 but returned the following year, only to retire again a year later after an injury. He is currently active in show business as a member of Yoshimoto Kogyo. Miyata won a national competition in 2002, becoming the event's youngest women's singles winner at the age of 19. She placed third in an international competition the following year. The two met three years ago when they appeared on TV Tokyo's "Oha Suta." They decided to form a competitive aerobics pair, becoming semifinalists in the national championships in 2004 and ranking 7th in the world championships (the Suzuki World Cup) in 2005. According to Yoshimoto Kogyo, the two are holding their wedding ceremony and reception in Tokyo on November 11. Link to article |
