Chika Umino's popular "Honey and Clover" is the latest manga series to be adapted to television. It was turned into a movie in 2006, starring Yu Aoi. This time, 15-year-old actress Riko Narumi will be taking over as the lead character, Hagumi Hanamoto.
"Honey and Clover" follows the lives of five college students and their love triangles. Hagumi is a talented artist in her first year, even though she appears to be much younger. Toma Ikuta has been cast as Yuta Takemoto, the lead male character. The remaining main cast members have not yet been announced. The drama will air on Fuji TV at 9:00pm every Tuesday, starting on January 8. Filming starts near the end of this month. Link to article |

This is pretty unexpected... I wonder how Riko and Toma will be as a pair? Riko is definitely one of my favorite young actresses, and Toma won me over with his hilarious performance in Hana Kimi, but somehow I don't see them meshing together right.

im not expecting much from this...not too happy w/ d casting esp the lead characters. from what i've seen from the CM, narumi riko's portrayal of hagu is totally different(aoi yuu's the perfect hagu appearance- and acting-wise imho). takemoto should be a plain joe, not good-looking like toma, who i think is better of as morita.
i wont mind if the drama's plot is a bit different. i just hope the drama stays true to the poignancy of the manga/anime series. |
