Post 2007 Seiun Awards announced

This weekend, Yokohama hosted Nippon 2007, a combination of the 65th World Science Fiction Convention and the 46th Nihon SF Taikai. On Sunday, the winners were revealed for the Seiun Awards, Japan's highest honor for science fiction writers.

Sakyo Komatsu and Koshu Tani won the Long Fiction award for "Japan Sinks, Part 2," while Hosuke Nojiri won in Short Fiction with "Oburoshiki to Kumo no Ito."

The other winners were:
  • Foreign Long Fiction: "Mortal Engines" by Phillip Reeve
  • Foreign Short Fiction: "The Astronaut from Wyoming" by Adam-Troy Castro and Jerry Oltion
  • Media: "Toki wo Kakeru Shoujo"
  • Comics: "Yokohama Kaidashi Kiko" by Hitoshi Ashinano
  • Art: Yoshitaka Amano
  • Nonfiction: "Uchuu e no Passport 3" by Yuichi Sasamoto
  • Freedom Award: The M-V rocket
  • Special Award: Yoshihiro Yonezawa
