Director Naomi Kawase has reportedly fallen ill due to overwork. Since returning to Japan after taking the Grand Prize at Cannes, she has been constantly approached for interviews and has been traveling back and forth between Tokyo and her home in Nara. She began complaining about her health over a week ago, and now is said to be recovering at home.
Kawase was scheduled to make an appearance at a theater in Shibuya on Saturday, but was unable to attend. It is not sure whether she will appear at the opening of her prize-winning "Mogari no Mori" next weekend.
