First of all, I'm not even familiar with the show... グータンヌーボ ... comes on late night on Fuji TV. Anyone know anything about it?

Most importantly, I'd love to know what the women in the studio were asking Toyohara that was making him so uncomfortable and they were having a great laugh at him over. Can anyone translate that section of the show for me... what he was asked & what he answered?

The studio portion with him starts about 7 minutes into the YouTube video.

Many, many thanks to anyone who can help this illiterate fan out! :)

Gout Temps Nouveau is a women's talk show. I don't know much more about it than that.

Unfortunately, I can't hear Japanese as well as I can read it (especially when it's men talking). It's also harder to accurately translate conversational Japanese, but here's what I got (some stuff skipped):

Q. What would happen if you found out that your loved one cheated on you?
A. If I found out she cheated on me? Hmm... I'd probably feel like a fool.

Q: (Nahomi Matsushima messes up the question at first, using her own name) What has a woman said to you that made you feel happy?
A: (Something about a friend a while ago, seems like some words of encouragement.)

Q: From what people have said to you about yourself, what stands out in your mind?
A: Hmmm.... "Kind of airheaded" or... "Looks good in a bathrobe"

Q: What's your feeling now, being surrounded by the four of us?
A: I'm happy.

They then have him elaborate on his answer to the first question. He comments that, for some reason, women cheating is more severe than men doing it. They agree with him. Matsushima offers an anecdote from a friend, where when a kid hears his father has an affair, it's not a big deal, but if it's the mother having an affair, it's a totally different reaction.

Yuka wonders why that is, and calls it "unfair" ("zurui"), and they say it should be the same for both. Toyohara gets kind of lost with their conversation. Matsushima jokes that they've all gotten hot and tries to cool herself down. Toyohara then asks her if she would do it, and she exclaims no.

Matsushima asks him if there have been times where he's noticed signs that he's being cheated on (I think that's the question), and he says not yet, but he thinks it would be tough if he had that kind of realization. Makiko Esumi asks him something (I'm not sure what), which takes him by surprise, and all he can say is "I'm really being investigated, aren't I..." She continues, "What kind of person is she?" Toyohara laughs and comments on her (his?) voice changing. Then he starts saying that the whole investigation is scary, and that Esumi herself is scary. (clip ends)

Hopefully someone else can offer a better (and more accurate) translation or explanation... ^^;

Thank you so much! The women were talking so fast I couldn't make much of anything out beyond "josei" and "koi"... not terribly helpful.

He's such a private person and while he's normally very reserved anyway, he seemed really embarrassed through their questions. I now see why. :D Practically a recluse, I'm even more surprised he went on a show like this. How funny...

Thanks again!
