Leah Interview (http://www.oricon.co.jp/music/interview/080326_01_int.html#interview)
Oricon: Why did you choose this song as your new single?
Leah: It was a song that really stood out when I heard it. It's really catchy and a song that's easily likable. Since this is the first single after my debut album, I wanted to try something a little different as a challenge. However, I didn't want people to think that this song is defining a "new me," but rather, that this song too is another part of the me that people already know. I'd like to think that I succeeded in that sense.
Oricon: This is also your first single of 2008.
Leah: Yeah, that's true. The first album "Destiny Line" was kind of me searching for what possibilities were there for me and where I was going so, other than that, there really wasn't any other concept. Since then I think that I might have become a little more interested in a conceptual approach. This past year I learned a lot through things like performing and writing lyrics so, I want to use all of those experiences the best I can for the future of my music.
Oricon: The title of the new single is "Love Paradox" and just like the title, you express some real contradicting emotions here.
Leah: I start singing about how I don't need love. (grin) But not in a bad way. To be completely honest, there are times that people really think that way and I wanted connect with people that have had that feeling before. A lot of people have been there before right?
Oricon: So even though you say that you don't need love, it's not what you truly believe deep down?
Leah: That's totally it! I like the contradiction. Like, what really hurts is that I really do love him... but I hate that I do. In the end, I think the message is that, "love really is necessary" but, it's not simple at all to truly believe in that. Love has a light side and a dark side to it and I would be really happy if people could get that feeling from the sound and lyrics of the song.
